My name is Nick and I’m half of Dutch Uncles. I grew up in Sydney, Australia, but left the sunshine behind when I moved to London 10 years ago. I came because I love to travel; I love history and culture, and I’m rubbish at learning new languages, so London seemed a good base to explore Europe.
Not for much longer, but they were simpler times.
I wound up working in Film! I’ve done it for long enough now and have met enough of my heroes to know it’s much more exciting to say than to do.
But I have been able to travel and explore and now, like so many ageing Millennials, I’m trying to own that the mid-life crisis that’s just over the horizon is actually full of opportunity! I’m older now and wiser! 40 is going to be the new 20; and we’re not even there yet! Life’s been okay so far, but the next chapter is going to be great!
And Dutch Uncles is going to be part of that. I wanted a space to put down what I’ve learned and loved, and yes: I’ve got friends who were making money blogging and so want to get some of that sweet action. Why not monetise my experiences? It’s the economy we live in now, right?! So if I can get the holidays of the past to pay for the holidays of the future: let’s do it!
